Justin was discharged yesterday afternoon. Yay! But the transition from hospital life has been rough. Within a couple of hours of leaving he was running a fever, vomiting, and feeling miserable. And like I said in the previous post, Justin really struggles to maintain his hydration and nutrition when not under the watchful eye of the nursing staff.
Thankfully he was able to make it up the stairs and sleep most of the night, only getting up once. I don’t know if either of us rested too well, but it was nice to be in bed next to him and feel his breathing.
Justin woke up ravenous, requesting donuts. But after having two, one and half came back up. For lunch we tried Panera in which he fared better.
He’s feeling well now, looks fuller in the face, and is moving around more liberally. The swelling of his leg has gotten significantly better, I would even say near normal. I’m hoping within a couple of days he’ll be able to put his full weight on it.
Justin has one follow-up appointment tomorrow with the surgeon where he’ll take out the abdominal staples and do a one-over to make sure everything is healing as expected.
It’s very nice to see this surgery getting smaller and smaller in the rear view mirror!
Yay! Happy you have him home and he’s doing better. All my best to you both and the kiddos
